A style of two-piece woman’s swimwear, consisting of a bottom and a top. The term “bikini” was first coined in 1946 when French fashion designer Louis Reard named his new design after the Bikini Atoll, where the United States was conducting nuclear tests. The bikini’s rise in popularity in the adult entertainment industry is often attributed to its ability to accentuate and highlight the female form, particularly in scenes of beach or sunset-themed pornography, as well as its use in promotional materials for adult films and toys.
